Recipe Categories

Recipe Categories can be set up by type of recipe; for example, Beef Entrees, Seafood Appetizers, etc. Think of these groups as convenient headings for a recipe book. As with other grouping functions, you can establish subgroups and master groups. Assign the item to the appropriate Recipe Category once they have been defined by clicking the drop down list to select the Category.

To add or edit existing Recipe Categories in Item Editor, click the open folder button to the right of the Recipe Category field to open the Recipe Categories group editor.  After adding a new Recipe Category, it may be necessary to close and reopen Item Editor in order to see the new Category on the drop down list.

Recipe Categories may also be setup at Database > Groups > Recipe Categories.

With the Recipe Categories function you can assign an item to a variety of groups, which can be used on reports or in performing a search. There are four categories to which an recipe item can be assigned. Each category operates in a fashion identical to that of all the other grouping functions of FOOD-TRAK.  (Production Location, Recipe Category, Main Ingredient and How Cooked)

Assigning items to categories is optional, however it enables you to produce reports based on very specific search criteria. For example, you may want to locate all sandwiches produced on the line with the main ingredient being turkey, and served hot. By assigning recipes to categories, you make this type of search possible.
