Profit Center Location Assignment

This utility performs the same function as the Purchase Location by Profit Center function found on the Item Editor’s Purchasing tab (the house icon); however, the Profit Center Assignment utility makes Purchase Location assignment easier because it can do it for a number of items simultaneously. The utility can also assign Production Location by Profit Center for recipes. Using Windows CTRL-select and SHIFT-select capabilities, any number of items can be assigned to a Purchase Location within a Profit Center at one time simply by dragging the selected item or items to a Location folder and dropping them into it.

To use this utility:

  1. From the FOOD-TRAK® Control Console, click Administration, then on the General tab double click Profit Center Location Assignment.

  2. The utility window contains a list of items in the left pane and a list of each Profit Center’s Inventory Locations in the right pane. Select the Profit Center from the drop-down list at the top of the right pane. All the Inventory Locations assigned to that Profit Center will appear.

  3. At the top of the left pane, you can use the drop-down lists to restrict your search for items to those of a single Report Group by selecting it from the Group drop-down list.

  4. The Show drop-down list allows you 3 options for further restricting which items appear in the left pane. You have the choice of all items in the database, only items not assigned to the selected Profit Center, or only items that are assigned to the selected Profit Center.

  5. You can search through the items list using the Search tool at the bottom of the window. Type an item name, or a portion of an item name and click Search. The list will be shortened to those items that begin with the letters you typed. You can also use the wildcard characters (such as *) to find particular names and words within item names.

  6. Click each item to select it, and then drag it from the left pane over to the folder representing the proper Inventory Location in the right pane. When the folder icon becomes highlighted, release the mouse button and the item will be added to that Inventory Location.

You can also use the Windows CTRL-click to select several items at random throughout the list, or SHIFT-click to select a range of items, one after the other.
