Copy Site Components

The Copy Site Components utility copies individual components of a source Site (the one you logged on to) to a target Site (any other existing FOOD-TRAK® Site). This utility is useful when you want to copy new items or recipes to any or all of your existing FOOD-TRAK® Sites, or to a new, empty Site. It is also a convenient way to update item information in each of your sites when circumstances cause their data to change.

If you wish to make an exact duplicate of your entire source Site in another existing site, it would be more convenient to use the Replicate Site utility. If, however, you want certain parts of the Site copied to the target Site while leaving other components to be configured differently in the target site, the Copy Site Components function is the one to use.

Example:

Store A is the source Site. Store B has a similar setup as Store A, but uses the metric system for measuring unit sizes, has a completely different set of vendors, and has its own inventory system. Using the Copy Site Components utility, Store A can send items and recipes to Store B, but omit those components of the items that are different. Store B receives a copy of the Site without unit sizes, without vendor information, and without any inventory data.

Copy Site Components also makes it easy to transfer entire recipes to the target Site. If you wish to send a Recipe, Sub-recipe or Menu Item to another site, you can set up the utility to include all the components of that recipe. Even the individual items that make up the recipe can be transferred to the target site.

If you change the data for any item in the source Site, you can copy all the changes to the target site, overwriting any previous data, while at the same time allowing certain data components in the target site to remain intact.

Example:

Store A and Store B have identical menus and use the same vendors. Store A makes decisions on vendors and recipes, sending them to Store B. Store B, although identical in operation, uses its own set of Reference Codes for its items. When Store A changes vendors or unit sizes, it transmits the updated data to Store B. Store A simply selects not to send Reference Codes with the rest of the components to Store B. Store B, in turn, receives the updated data for its items, but its Reference Codes are left untouched.

NOTE: This utility copies items only to an existing Site. You must first create the site using Add New Site, then copy items to the new site using Copy Site Components.
